When she is not in New York City, Knoxville, Tennessee, is home to Christian actress Chevy Anz, best known for her theatrical portrayals of Evita Peron and Tammy Wynette. Her latest role brings her back to Media, Pennsylvania, for the comedy “Nunsense.”
When I asked Chevy to tell me a little about “Nunsense,” she responded with surprise, “You’ve never seen ‘Nunsense?'” adding it is a popular and frequently done production, especially appreciated by older theatre goers.
Chevy explained the plot: “Five nuns are holding a fund raising show to help bury four dead nuns who died of
Vichyssoise.”
Vichyssoise? I thought that was a food? I guess there is a lot about “Nunsense” I don’t know!
Chevy plays Sister Robert Anne and says, “I’m the tough street wise Brooklyn nun who is always joking around.” For Christian Activities readers she adds, “It doesn’t really have any Christian message, just Catholic jokes and tap-dancing Nuns.”
If you like tap-dancing nuns and death by Vichyssoise, you can catch “Nunsense” at the Media Theatre in Media PA, April 3 – 21.
