Highlights from one of the largest festival events ever staged on a northern California beach “Beachfest Santa Cruz with Luis Palau” will be televised nationally on PAX Television on Easter Sunday (3 pm Eastern and Pacific, 2 pm Mountain and Central).
CELEBRATION OF HOPE: BEACHFEST SANTA CRUZ is a one-hour special featuring top names in contemporary Christian music and a message of hope from world evangelist and author Luis Palau. Contemporary Christian recording artists Kirk Franklin, Jaci Velasquez, Crystal Lewis, dc Talk, Plus One and Skillet showcase a broad range of musical styles, while Palau delivers the Good News of the Gospel in a timely and compelling message.
Staged just days after September 11, Beachfest was one of the first – and largest – public gatherings to take place after the nation’s tragedy. Idaho, Connecticut, and South America also hosted Luis Palau festivals similar to Beachfest Santa Cruz in 2001, drawing crowds of as many as 300,000. Festivals in 2002 are in South Carolina, New York, and Washington.
Luis Palau’s mass evangelism ministry is breaking attendance records in the United States, Latin America, and other parts of the world with youth-oriented festivals of “great music & Good News.” Now in his fourth decade of mass evangelism, Luis Palau has spoken to hundreds of millions of people in 104 nations through radio and television broadcasts, and face-to-face to 15 million people in 70 countries. This year, he received the Milestone Award from the National Religious Broadcasters for fifty years in broadcasting.
His radio program “Reaching Your World” is heard daily on more than 850 radio stations. In recent years, Dr. Palau has written three books for New York publisher Doubleday: God Is Relevant, Where Is God When Bad Things Happen? and his newest – It’s A God Thing. Since September 11, he has visited the White House on six occasions for prayer and counsel.
