* Key Verse: Isaiah 43:2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.”
When the winds of adversity blow it’s easy to lose heart and sight of God. We sometimes allow our emotions to take over which blurs our focus and weakens our spiritual endurance.
During trying times you must embrace three critical truths:
1. Remember God’s past deliverances: Remind yourself that God has delivered you before and can do it again. Declare to stand firm on the ‘Rock of our Salvation’, Jesus Christ!
2. Believe God’s promises: God cannot lie, His Word is certain. In adversity you can rely on His promises in Scripture to sustain and uphold you. God’s words are comforting and provide us the answers to life’s daily struggles.
3. Count on God’s unfailing love: God is love. His grace, holy presence, power and purpose is constantly at work on your behalf, God will not fail you. What God has begun in your life He will complete (Phil. 1:6).
If you rely on these truths and stand firm in your faith until the storm subsides God will see you through. You can count on His unfailing love to deliver you for the trials of this life.
It is freedom in Christ that has set us free. Jesus said, if you hold to my teachings, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. Stand firm then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by the yoke of sin that so easily besets us.
He who belongs to God hears what God has to say. Jesus said, I am the vine, you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit, apart from me you can do nothing.
Jesus said, in the world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world!Back to Devotionals Page
