“Si! Tenemos Musica en Español!”

Provident Music Distribution and One Voice Records have
announced the launch of a new campaign to assist CBA stores in building their
Hispanic customer base. The campaign, called “Si! Tenemos Musica en
Español!” (Yes! We Have Music In Spanish!), will ship to CBA stores on
August 28 and comes on the heels of the recent 2000 Federal Census report,
which showed that the number of Hispanics in the U.S. has risen 60% over the
past decade (to 35.3 million) and now comprises 12% of the U.S. population,
roughly the same number as African-Americans (36.4 million).
“According to the RIAA, the average Latin music consumer purchases almost one
new CD a week, but if you don’t have music in Spanish or your customers don’t
know you have it, you won’t sell it,” states Jose Garces, President of One
Voice Records.
“It’s so tempting to take the path of least resistance and only stock what’s
selling today, rather than ask what will meet the needs of tomorrow’s
customer,” adds Don Noes, Sr. Vice President of Provident Distribution. “For
years, Gospel music was only racked and sold regionally. These days,
Christian bookstores all across America have a vibrant business in Gospel
music to compliment their selection of African-American Bibles, church
resources, and lifestyle products. The same opportunity exists today for
stores to meet the needs of the exploding Hispanic market.”
In response to significant interest from retailers and distributors,
Provident Music Distribution will now be offering One Voice Records’ Top 15
Spanish titles directly to CBA stores in an easy “pre-pack” format. In
addition to the product, the following bilingual promotional tools will be
available in a single merchandising kit to help CBA stores build their
Spanish business:
o Free “Si! Tenemos Musica en
Español!” transparent door/window cling to
tell customers, “Yes! We
Have Music In Spanish!”
o Free Pack of 3 generic “Si! Tenemos Musica en
Español!” permanent acrylic
shelf talkers and one CD bin card to help establish Spanish music sections.

Ortega, etc. whose Spanish

Records’ bilingual label site as a
