Paul Colman Trio on the Wing

Pop/rock band Paul Colman Trio celebrates its second No. 1 single, “Run,” which recently grabbed the top position on Radio & Records’ Christian Hits Radio Top 30 chart.
This month marks multiple victories for the group, who garnered its first Dove and GRAMMY® Award nominations as well.
After claiming its first No. 1 radio single “Turn” back in May, Paul Colman Trio comes through with its second consecutive hit, “Run.” Essential Records’ manager of radio promotions Michael Johnson commented, “The boys from Down Under have done it again… actually Christian radio has done it again on behalf of our Aussies. From first listen, program directors were telling me that they liked ‘Run’ better than ‘Turn.’ That can only mean good things!”
The trio received additional good news this week, having been nominated for its first Dove Awards. The group acquired nods in the categories of New Artist of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Album for New Map of the World, released in May.
Also a first, pc3 accepted a GRAMMY┬« Award nomination earlier this month in the field of Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album for New Map of the World. The band was the only new artist among the categories’ nominees. Also nominated were labelmates Jars of Clay for The Eleventh Hour and male vocal foursome True Vibe for See The Light as well as Reunion Records’ NewSong for The Christmas Shoes and Kathy Troccoli for The Heart of Me.
Since signing with Essential Records in 2001, the band released its debut label project, New Map of the World, last May. The record’s initial radio single “Turn” reigns as the longest running No. 1 song on the Christian Hits Radio chart in Radio & Records history (10 weeks) and the fastest rising No. 1 single from a new artist on R&R’s CHR chart (8 weeks). Paul Colman Trio spent the majority of its debut year on tour with labelmate Third Day as part of the 76-city “Come Together” tour, performing in front of an estimated audience of 300,000. Less than a month after completing the fall leg of the tour, pc3 was named third on R&R’s list of the Top 10 breakthrough Christian artists of 2002. The group will continue to grow its following on a major market tour this spring. Details are forthcoming.
Formed in 1998 in Melbourne, Australia, Paul Colman Trio (pc3), is Paul Colman (lead singer/songwriter/guitarist), Grant Norsworthy (bass/vocals) and Phil Gaudion (drums/percussion/vocals). Having released four independent albums, titled Serious Fun, Turn, pc3 Live Electric and pc3 Live Acoustic, the group was named Australia’s Artist of the Year in 2000 and 2001 by The Rock Across Australia chart.
