Dr. Tony Campolo, renowned commentator on religious, social and political matters, is in New Zealand for one week and will be a guest
speaker at the largest Christian Music Festival in the Southern Hemisphere – Parachute 03, 24-27 January, Totara Springs, Matamata.
Dr Campolo will speak to the 23,000 strong crowd organizers expect to attend this years Parachute 03 – Campolo has vast speaking
experience as a media commentator on religious, social and political matters having been a guest on television programs like Nightline,
Crossfire, Politically Incorrect, The Charlie Rose Show and CNN News.
Founder of the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education (EAPE), Dr. Campolo has been a key leader in creating, and
supporting programs for “at-risk” and disadvantaged children and youth in cities across the US and Canada and has also helped
establish schools and universities in several developing countries.
Dr Campolo has co-hosted his own television series, Hashing It Out, on the Odyssey Network, and presently hosts From Across The
Pond, a weekly program on the Premier Radio Network in England. The author of 28 books, his most recent titles are Revolution and
Renewal: How Churches Are Saving Our Cities (Westminster John Knox) and Let Me Tell You a Story: Life Lessons From Unexpected
Places and Unlikely People (WORD).
An Eastern University graduate, and currently professor emeritus of Sociology at Eastern University – Campolo also served ten years
on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania – receiving his PhD from Temple University.
Dr. Campolo is an ordained minister, has served American Baptist Churches in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and is presently
recognized as an associate pastor of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church in West Philadelphia.
Parachute Festival Director Mark Mortlock says having a speaker with the experience of Dr Campolo takes the Festival to another level
