One Voice Records Score 6 Dove Nominations

One Voice Records recording artists Freddie Colloca and Ileana Garces each received Dove Award nominations yesterday for projects that marked their introduction to the U.S. market nearly one year ago. Along with Colloca and Garces, Dove Award winning One Voice recording artist/producer/songwriter Alvaro Lopez and One Voice songwriter Jose Garces, Jr. also received nominations.
“In light of the fact that we released so few records last year, we are grateful that such a high percentage of our projects are receiving this kind of recognition,” says Garces, Jr.

Colloca, a Dove nominee in the Spanish-language category last year, was nominated for “Dance El Ritmo,” the title song from his highly acclaimed debut English-language project. “Dance El Ritmo” was nominated in the Rap/Hip Hop/Dance Recorded Song of the Year category. Colloca received two nominations for the song, as writer and performer. Also nominated for “Dance el Ritmo” were co-writers Alvaro Lopez and Jose Garces, Jr.
Colloca’s youthful high-energy performances, combining worshipful lyrics with Latin-flavored pop music, wowed the crowds at last year¹s Dove Awards ceremony and at last summer’s Christian Music Seminar at Estes Park, among other venues. He continues to electrify audiences as the host of CBN’s flagship International series, One Cubed, which reaches over 25 million people worldwide, and he is currently opening for NewSong and Newsboys on the 20-city Winter Jam Tour.
“For Freddie Colloca on his first English-language album to be counted in the musical ranks of such Christian music icons as Rebecca St. James and DC Talk’s Toby Mac is a wonderful affirmation of his music and ministry,” comments Garces, Jr., One Voice Records V.P. of A&R.
Ileana Garces received her very first Dove nomination for El Amor Tiene Un Valor, her debut One Voice Records project, in the Spanish-Language Album of the Year category. El Amor Tiene Un Valor is the Spanish version of her English-language debut, Dare to Love. Also nominated for El Amor Tiene Un Valor was producer Alvaro Lopez.
Garces, whose debut album released in the spring of 2001, has experienced quite a whirlwind year. After causing a traffic jam on the exhibition floor at July’s CBA International Convention in Atlanta by signing autographs for close to 5 hours, Ileana spent much of the summer and fall touring in Central & South America, appearing on numerous major television and radio shows and achieving a #3 radio single in Guatemala and a Top 10 radio single in Brazil. Ileana was the featured performer at the nationally televised Viva Awards in Guatemala and opened in Brazil for Latin America¹s top-selling Christian artist, Marcos Witt.
“In view of the unprecedented response Ileana’s CD has already earned in Latin America, it is no wonder that Spanish audiences in the United States have recognized how special she is,” says Garces, Jr. “She is the real deal.”
Miami-based One Voice Records, one of the world’s leading Latin Christian record labels, is distributed to the U.S. Christian marketplace by Provident Music Distribution. One Voice¹s proprietary distribution company, Latin Door Distribution, services almost two dozen Spanish-speaking countries worldwide. These nominations mark the third successive year that One Voice has received a nomination in the Spanish-language category and their debut nomination in an English-language category.
The 33rd Annual Dove Awards will be produced by Dick Clark Productions, Inc. and will be held on April 25th at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN.
