Terrorists have once again shown their callous inhumanity by a cowardly attack on the transit system of London by bombing the London subway system and a double-decker bus.
The brutal attack was condemned as barbaric and evil from heads of state around the world, and the United Nations expressed outrage. President Bush said from Scotland, “We will not yield to these people; we will not yield to these terrorists,” and he talked about spreading an ideology of hope and compassion.
The people of London have pulled together in a brave show of defiance and solidarity, pledging to bounce back from the worst attack on London since World War II. Taking a page from Winston Churchill, the rallying cry of many Britons again is, “Never give in, never give in, never, never, never.”
The London subway system was opened in January of 1863, making it the oldest subway system in the world. People turned to the subways for safety during times of war.
Our hearts go out to our brothers and sisters in London and our prayers are with you. We join you in praying, “God save the Queen. God save the people of London.”
