Lisa Whelchel Kicks Off RV Family Dream Tour at CBA

Lisa Whelchel, formerly Blair Warner on NBC’s sitcom The Facts of Life,
will kick off a one-year RV tour with her husband and three children after CBA in July. The Family Dream Tour is so named because of Lisa’s lifelong dream to leave the rat race and travel with her family across America, experiencing the country and discovering each other. The tour will begin in San Francisco and hit 50 different markets through July 2002.
Tiffin Motor Homes in Alabama is sponsoring the tour, giving Lisa’s family a 40-foot Allegro Bus to use on the adventure as a sign of their belief in the dream that families can make memories together. Lifeway Online will also participate in the tour, with online chats from different locations as well as weekend in-stores in each market. Lisa will be promoting her current parenting book, Creative Correction (Focus On The Family/Tyndale), as well as her upcoming release, The Facts of Life and Other Lessons My Father Taught Me, published by Multnomah Publishers.
The Cauble Family—Lisa Whelchel Cauble, Steve and their three children—will travel to one market each week, seeing all the sights and sounds in the vicinity. Lisa will be doing media interviews on Fridays along with book signings, in-stores, and church speaking appearances throughout the weekend. Her new website, lisawhelchel.com, launches this week and will have daily journal entries and updates as the family visits sights such as the Crayola Factory, Mt. Rushmore, and The Big Apple. The website will also include personal photos (scrapbooking is a favorite pastime of Lisa’s), homeschooling resources, and book and music recommendations.
Lisa Whelchel began her acting career at age thirteen as a Mouseketeer for The New Mickey Mouse Club and is best known for her nine-year role on The Facts of Life. The year the sitcom ended she married pastor and meeting planner Steve Cauble, becoming a full-time wife and homeschooling mother of three children within three years. Tucker, Clancy, and Haven are now eight, nine, and eleven, and will hit the road for hands-on education. Lisa’s first book, Creative Correction (October 2000) is now in its fifth printing, with a Gold Medallion nomination in the Family and Parenting category. The Facts of Life and Other Lessons My Father Taught Me (Multnomah) releases in September. Lisa will be writing another book while on the Family Dream Tour, Finding God In America, due out in 2002. As The Facts of Life experiences a resurgence of popularity due to the nightly airing of the show on Nick-at-Nite, a new two-hour ABC “Facts of Life Reunion” television show is slated for 2002.
