Gotee Records’ Grammy-nominated recording artist Jennifer Knapp recently premiered songs from
her highly anticipated November 20 release, The Way I Am, to a standing-room-only crowd at New York’s Mercury Lounge.
A masterfully recorded singer-songwriter project, The Way I Am was recorded in New York, produced by Tony McAnany
(Madonna, Missy Elliot, Sinead O’Connor) and co-produced by Knapp. All twelve Knapp-penned songs shimmer with such
musical and lyrical depth, that the project immediately attracted an all-star cast of world-renowned musicians. The list includes
Jeremy Lubbock (Michael Jackson, Madonna, Barbara Streisand) on string arrangements with the London Symphony Orchestra,
Vinnie Cauliuta (Sting, Frank Zappa) on drums, and Tony Levin (Tracy Chapman, Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon) on bass, to name a
“This project is what many are claiming to be the most monumental Jennifer Knapp album to date,” stated Gotee Records president,
Joey Elwood. “Typically, singer-songwriter albums are under-produced, but this album is a fully produced, singer songwriter
album, one that I know I’ll still be listening to for years to come.”
In light of the anticipation, Gotee is taking a “no-holds-barred” approach to the marketing of The Way I Am, planning their most
extensive, intentional, and costly marketing campaign yet.
“We have barely scratched the surface of people who will openly embrace Jennifer’s music,” asserts Gotee director of sales, Troy
Collins. “We intend to dig deep and infiltrate atypical avenues with this new album to create new awareness, increase demand, and
obtain an impressive amount of new fans who will become passionate about Jennifer’s songs. At the same time, we are determined
to enthuse Jennifer’s fans of old with a captivating album.”
Knapp has been exceptionally busy this past year. In the midst or writing and recording for The Way I Am, she toured in support
of Lay It Down, becoming one of Pollstar’s Top 50 tours this past spring. Knapp has also been performed for over half a million
people this summer at numerous music festivals across the country, including the Billy Graham Louisville Crusade.
The Way I Am is Knapp’s third recording, having already sold one million units of her previous projects, Kansas (1998) and Lay It
