After stopping in Chicago, JAKE continued its Army of Love promotional tour,
visiting WLGH 88.1-The Light in Lansing, Mich., on Friday, March 1. That
evening JAKE performed a concert at South Baptist Church in Lansing, in
conjunction with The Light, to benefit the Salvation Army’s food bank. More
than 1,000 Light listeners turned out to the concert, collecting five
barrels of food with enough overflow to fill as many as five more barrels.
A Salvation Army spokesperson estimated that it would take four days to sort
and count all the food (“Jake in the Food” attached; high resolution
available on request).
During JAKE’s benefit concert, the band awarded a Karaoke machine to Light
listener Sarah Cronkright of Concord, Mich. Earlier that day, JAKE had
Sarah sing the national anthem through her cell phone on-air to win. Sarah
joined JAKE on stage near the end of the concert to accept her prize and
sing along to their latest hit, “Army of Love.”
With a crowd of almost 500, JAKE performed at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame
in Cleveland on March 5. The band was also the guest of Cleveland’s 95.5
The Fish morning show. March 6 found JAKE making its through Erie, Pa.,
where the band appeared on WCTL 106.3’s morning show and performed a brown
bag concert at the local mall for close to 500 people followed by a Q&A
session at Beacon’s Bookstore.
JAKE participated in the After School Bash with WJTL 90.3 on March 7. The
band’s morning began with an appearance on WJTL’s morning show with Phredd
and Mindy. While in the studio for the morning show, JAKE also took part in
a story on Christian music for a local TV station.
Later that day, almost 500 people crowded
the food court of the Rockvale
Square Outlet Mall in Lancaster, Pa., to hear JAKE in concert. The radio
station held a sock drive at the concert to benefit the local Salvation Army
with 727 pairs of socks collected!
