GMA Week Journal: Saturday, April 21

3:00 pm. Gospel Music Week officially begins tomorrow, but I went down to scope things out this afternoon. The Stouffer and Convention Center were deceptively quiet as I made my way through the Stouffer lobby and down into the Convention Center, but there were already a few familiar faces in the
building. GMA’s Frank Breeden and his assistant Bryan were checking out the free magazines in the
publication bins area. Robin Parrish from About.com was also loitering near the publications and we had a
chance to introduce ourselves and compare notes.

The hotel and convention center are festooned with HUGE banners this year. The bridge sky walk
from the hotel to the parking garage and Nashville’s new library sports a l-o-n-g Nicki Leonti banner down one side, and an equally lengthy banner of Natalie Grant down the other side. The long
hallway from the hotel down to the Convention Center has two banners the size of a small wall featuring Third Day and True Vibe. Point of Grace hangs proudly in the hallway and Avalon hangs in the escalator area. The stars may not be present in person
yet, but you could say they are already… hanging around!
9:30 pm. Tonight brought Denver and the Mile High Orchestra and their swing stylings to “The Rafters” at Belmont University.
Stay tuned for more GMA Journal updates this week brought to you by your friends at ChristianActivities.com and check the Gospel Music Week section for more news and GMA activities.
