Cinco De Mayo Spotlight on Marcos Witt

With the announcement of the Fourth Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards in September, Provident Music Distribution celebrated its Maranatha! distributed-artist, Marcos Witt, receiving the Latin GRAMMY® for Best Christian Album for Sana Nuestra Tierra, released on CanZion Producciones. The awards were held Sept. 3 at the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami and were broadcast domestically by the CBS Television Network.
This renowned Latin worship leader released his first solo English worship CD on Maranatha! Latin, Live Worship with Marcos Witt: Amazing God, on May 27, 2003, to CBA retail through Provident Music Distribution.
Will also captured several honors at the 1st Annual Enlace Musical Awards in 2003. The winners were obtained though an online voting process through single and secret votes collected from registered members of the Integridad Network community and through its musical division EnlaceMusical.com (http://www.EnlaceMusical.com), a process held between July 17 and August 31, 2003. Witt earned a total of three awards including Songwriter of the Year and Special Event Album of the Year for “Sana Nuestra Tierra” — a project born in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York — as well as the Lifetime Achievement award.
In addition to his musical achievements, Witt is also an evangelist and worship leader who has ministered
internationally in numerous crusades including his current work with Promise Keepers, among others. With more
than 100 appearances and concerts in front of 800,000 fans each year, Witt performed in 12 countries and 75
different cities in 2002 alone. Witt is also currently starting a church in Dallas, TX, where he will serve as senior
pastor.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, Witt Grew up in a missionary home in Mexico. His father died for the Gospel when
Witt was young. As a small boy, he and his new father traveled taking the Gospel throughout Mexico. Following
high school graduation, Witt studied classical music at the San Antonio Music Conservatory. Since the debut of his
first recording in 1986, Witt has completed 22 albums, most of which have been in Spanish. As a well-known
evangelist and worship leader, Witt regularly ministers to hundreds of thousands each year.
