Mark Miller, founder and frontman of Country music super-group Sawyer Brown, today announced the moniker of his recently founded Christian recording imprint under the Reunion Records and Provident Label Group umbrella. The label, home to flagship artist Casting Crowns, will be called Beach Street Records.
“The name reflects the relationship behind the label,” noted Miller on his friendship with both Steven Curtis Chapman and Provident Music Group president and CEO, Terry Hemmings. “Terry, Steven and I have been spending vacation time with our families at the beach for the past several years. It’s where we first bantered about the idea of working together. It’s finally happened and the name just fit.”
Casting Crowns’ Sept. 30 self-titled debut, co-produced by Miller and Christian music veteran Steven Curtis Chapman, delivers rich-sounding edgy-pop that addresses key issues within the church through powerful and poignant lyrics crafted by lead-singer Mark Hall.
Christian radio stations nationwide have quickly embraced this new group. The band’s first radio single, “If We Are the Body,” debuted out-of-the-box at an impressive No. 26 on Christian Radio Weekly’s (CRW) Adult Contemporary chart and has already been exposed to more than 2 million listeners a week.
Casting Crowns, formed during frontman Mark Hall’s tenure as a youth minister in Daytona Beach, Fla. 4 years ago, developed its unique sound while leading Wed. night worship for Hall’s youth group. Accepting a similar post in Atlanta, he and other band members relocated in order to continue and grow their music ministry. In addition, stemming from his passion for youth, Hall launched a curriculum called “Jumpstart Resources” designed to assist smaller churches with their youth programs.
