Bluefield College will host its monthly Business and Professional Prayer
Breakfast on Wednesday, August 7, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and featuring
Eleanor Rupp, advocate of local efforts for Bible in the Schools, who will
offer the morning’s devotion.
A full breakfast buffet will be provided during the August 7 gathering,
along with fellowship, prayer and Rupp’s devotion. Rupp is a teacher at
Bluefield High School and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in
Bluefield.
The monthly Prayer Breakfast meetings at BC are designed to strengthen
the college’s relationships with area business leaders and professionals,
while providing an opportunity for community fellowship. Most importantly,
according to Teresa Stanley, coordinator of the monthly gatherings, the
prayer breakfasts are a venue for community prayer and spiritual growth.
“The Prayer Breakfasts are becoming a viable part of our college and a
viable part of the community,” Stanley said. “This is a time of fellowship
and prayer for everyone. Our hope is that during this time we can share our
concerns and needs. This is not a Bluefield College event. It’s a community
event.”
Area residents are encouraged to attend the August 7 breakfast. Those
interested should RSVP by calling 276-326-4555. The breakfast will take
place in Shott Hall on the BC campus. A love offering will be taken at the
door to cover meal expenses.
Future BC Prayer Breakfast speakers will include: O.J. Bailes, local
physician (September 4); Harold “Lucky” Goforth, local dentist (October 2);
Mary Ann Strong, owner of Mulco Insurance (November 6); and Dr. Dan
MacMillan, president of Bluefield College (December 4).
