A COUNTRY (Christian?) CHRISTMAS

I’ve been near musical theatre all my life: South Pacific, Jacques Brell, and
Bash’n the Code. I’ve done my share of OpryLand shows, which brings me to “A Country Christmas.”
This Show has been running since the “good years” at
the park. OK I’m playing drums in the pit orchestra and we’re having a blast! I hear it’s the last year for it, so if you’re feeling homey, longing for a
breathtaking view into a happier time on Briley Parkway, THIS IS YOUR LAST
CHANCE! And go figure, this is the one show out there that reads the Bible to
its crowd every night and 70% of the music is about Jesus, and they affirm
family values and tasteful fun!
“For Unto Us ” from Handel’s Messiah is given a more than fair, powerful treatment. The swing rock “Jingle Bells” by Brian Setzer is the big Dance number as is the bluegrass hoe-down of “Uncle Pen.” The singing and dancing, because there are no other shows this year, is back up to better than “Park Standards.”
Don’t miss this show- Call Opryland Hotel for reservations. It’s dinner theatre and the food is great. The show started Thanksgiving and runs through
Christmas day and frankly, it has been full (1200-1500) per night)- it is the
last year, so they say. Don’t snooze and loose. If it is the last, it’s going out with a blast!
Editor’s note: the dinner and show costs approximately $55 per person and reservations can be made by calling 615/889-1000. As of December 3, the show is already sold out on Dec. 9, 13, 16, 17, 18, 20, and 21.
