Still celebrating the record-breaking release of its self-titled debut album, new Essential Records pop group True Vibe was recently enthusiastically received on its first European tour. The group was a featured performer for more than 40,000 youth from Holland and surrounding countries during EO Youth Day, a major annual event held in Amsterdam. Shortly after returning to the U.S., True Vibe’s multi-format hit single, “Now and Forever,” went to No. 1 in Holland, while retaining that position for three consecutive weeks in the U.S.
The EO Youth Day concert took place in the Amsterdam Arena, a cultural center of Europe. In addition to the live audience, True Vibe’s EO concert was telecast on the Dutch National Broadcast Network during prime time. “The concert was amazing!” remarked Hans Groeneveld, GMI Music Partners president. “When True Vibe finished their set, the kids were yelling ‘More! More!’ The response from the Dutch audience, as well as from retail, has been overwhelming.”
Held during the first week of June, EO Youth Day is sponsored each year by the EO, a prominent evangelical organization in Holland, and features speakers, praise and worship, and guest performances. Along with True Vibe, this year’s lineup included Michael Tait, Nicole C. Mullen and Stacie Orrico. True Vibe is pictured performing at EO Youth Day in the “True Vibe – EOyouthday” attachment.

During its stay in Europe, True Vibe was also featured by numerous key media in Holland and attended various media events. The group completed an interview with Ten Ham productions for an ongoing radio series, Xion, which is sponsored by the teen magazine Hebbez, the country’s premier youth magazine. (True Vibe was recently featured in the print version of the magazine as well). Gospelcharts, the Dutch equivalent of The CCM Update, also interviewed the band during its stay. This interview will be serviced to 155 radio stations across Europe. Before its concert, True Vibe further took time to participate in a one-hour Internet chat sponsored by EO and did a TV interview with EO/Sky High for a special about its trip to Amsterdam.

In addition to its media activities, the group visited several bookstores in Holland to promote its recording, performed at the opening of City Music & Books in the heart of Amsterdam, and met with GMI Music Partners/Provident Music Group Europe, which services all of True Vibe’s product to mainland Europe.
With the success of the European tour, True Vibe has already been invited to return to Europe for an extensive multi-country tour. The appeal of the group in Europe is evidenced by its debut album going to No. 1 on the Dutch national Album Top 20, while its very first radio single, “Now and Forever,” went to No. 1 on the Dutch Gospelcharts! Airplay Top 20. The song was also No. 1 in the U.S. for the three consecutive weeks on the Christian Hits Radio (CHR) chart (The CCM Update).
While True Vibe considers returning to Europe, the group embarked this week on a significant 20-city major-market, large venue tour with multi-platinum-selling teen pop sensation and Jive Records recording artist Aaron Carter. Remarkably, True Vibe has already performed live for more than one million people even before the release of the its first recording, including 11 sold-out concerts with the multi-GRAMMY winning group Destiny’s Child. The momentum helped the group secure the year’s highest-selling debut release when the album appeared in stores during the month of May. True Vibe has further been interviewed for upcoming features in publications such as Bop Magazine, J-14, Tiger Beat, Teen Beat, CCM Magazine and Release Magazine.
Nashville-based Essential Records was founded in 1992 and specializes in providing relevant pop, alternative and modern music. In addition to True Vibe, the label’s artist roster includes Jars of Clay, Third Day, FFH and Caedmon’s Call.
