The Thinking Man’s Pop Tour Hits Campus Areas

Jars of Clay and Caedmon’s Call will team up again for the fall leg of what has been dubbed, “The Thinking Man’s Pop Tour.” The successful first leg of the tour last spring visited more than 40 college markets, with multiple sell-out dates. This fall, 30 new college markets will host the tour which launches Oct. 30 in Grapevine, TX (A full list of tour dates is on our Calendar). Special guest Steven Delopoulos will open for the bands. Each evening’s concert will feature the trademark organic Caedmon’s Call sound, Jars of Clay’s unique, award-winning musical style and the raw, edgy performance Delopoulos is well known for. Most shows will be on or near major college campuses.
Jars of Clay is set to release its new studio recording, Who We Are Instead on Nov. 4, and will debut the new songs on the tour, including the album’s first single “Show You Love.” Lead singer, Dan Haseltine commented, “There’s nothing more exciting than playing new songs in the live setting. We feel like this collection of songs was inspired by the fun we had during the acoustic performances of the past year, and we know this tour will prove to be our best. We can’t wait to share the stage with our friends, Caedmon’s Call, and are humbled by the presence of Steven Delopoulos with his gifted songwriting and passionate performance.”
Cliff Young, frontman for Caedmon’s Call concurs. “We’re excited about going on the road again with Jars. Musically and spiritually, we’re very compatible. We’re also looking forward to having Steven on this leg of the tour. We think highly of his creativity and are glad he’s part of the bill.” Caedmon’s Call will continue to support their successful Back Home CD which released in early 2003 and has produced several radio hits including the current single, “Hands of the Potter.”
Delopoulos is best known as the former front man of the critically acclaimed Burlap To Cashmere. Me Died Blue is Delopoulos’ first solo effort on the new Monroe Jones’ imprint label eb+flo Records (a division of Universal South). Steven was on tour earlier this fall with Curb recording artist Anna Wilson and is currently doing dates with Over the Rhine.
In an ongoing campaign against global poverty and social injustice, the tour has once again partnered with child development and relief organization Compassion International. In addition Jars of Clay had extended the Blood:Water Mission Symposium series in select tour markets this fall. The Blood:Water is Jars of Clay’s non-profit organization which aims to educate and empower the public to get personally involved in the HIV/AIDS crisis raging in third world countries.
