Integrity Music’s Miss PattyCake “Eggstravaganza” video has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), announced Integrity Label Group Vice President Kevin Weimer.
This gold video certification marks the first gold video for Miss PattyCake, aka Jean Thomason. First released in 2002, “Eggstravaganza” tells the Easter story while sing-along songs, games, and adventures remind kids that Jesus loves them, died for them and rose again.
“We congratulate Miss PattyCake on her first gold certification and appreciate retail’s strong support of this project,” said Weimer. “She has been entertaining and teaching children for the past 10 years, and has many accolades that confirm the incredible response children have to her videos. This certification is another well-deserved honor.”
During 2004’s Easter season, “Eggstravaganza” spent several weeks in the top 10 on both the Christian SoundScan Top Children’s Videos Chart and the Overall Christian Videos Chart. Special promotions at retail, which included a companion product, Resurrection Eggs, as well as in-store appearances at Wal-Mart, contributed to increased exposure and sales for Miss PattyCake’s video.
“With ‘Eggstravaganza,’ I think we came up with a unique and fun way for children to experience and discover the Easter story,” said Thomason. “The video is meant to help plant seeds in the hearts and lives of little ones. Like all PattyCake videos, ‘Eggstravaganza’ is an ambassador of the love of God to people in their homes and churches all over the world. That’s very exciting to me, and the gold certification is like icing on the cake.”
Thomason has been performing as Miss PattyCake since 1994, when she and Nancy Gordon created the character for Integrity Music. Miss PattyCake was created for preschoolers ages one to five. She has released six additional videos and two music CDs, and plans the release of “Praise Parade,” the second in a series of sing-a-long videos, in July.
Miss PattyCake has sold more than 160,000 videos and has been nominated for several Dove Awards. She has performed before more than 500,000 women at Women of Faith conferences across the U.S. and for thousands of children’s pastors at Children’s Pastor Conferences.
