A VERSATILE GROUP of artists, producers
and other music professionals were nominated for the 43rd Annual GRAMMY
Awards. The simultaneous announcements were made on
January 3 at press conferences held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills and at the Loews Vanderbilt Plaza in Nashville.
Brad Paisley, Trisha Yearwood and Rebecca St. James announced the Recording Academy?s nominees yesterday morning at the Nashville hotel.
25 artists from a wide array of musical genres garnered three or more nominations while many Christian artists got the Grammy nod once. A listing of Christian artists nominated includes:

the
nominees for the coveted awards in the Beverly Hills press conference.
“The GRAMMY tent is pretty big,” Recording Academy President/CEO
Michael Greene told
GRAMMY.com. “You know, [artists like] Amy Grant and Snoop Dogg
are both under that tent, and we
like that. The more this organization can promote cross-pollination
between genres, that’s one of our
jobs.”
GRAMMY nominations ballots for the final
round of voting will be mailed January 12 to
the 12,000 voting members of the more
than 17,000-member Recording Academy.
Ballots will be tabulated by the accounting
firm of Deloitte & Touche LLP, and kept
secret until the telecast.
Winners in the 500+ nominations from the
100 categories will be revealed for the first
time during the 43rd Annual GRAMMY
Awards telecast on February 21, 2001. The
three-hour show will originate from Staples
Center in Los Angeles and be broadcast on
CBS-TV at 8 p.m. (EST/PST). The show
will
reach a worldwide audience of nearly 2
billion people in 180 countries.
