Australian worship phenomenon, Planetshakers sweeps the U.S. with its dynamic spiritual teaching and high-energy live performance. Three months since the debut of its latest studio recording, Open Up the Gates, Planetshakers delivers (My King) Live Praise & Worship, featuring live songs from its spring project. The joint CD/DVD releases through Word Records Aug. 24.
(My King) Live Praise & Worship is the most recent in a series of Planetshakers products and events planned for 2004. In conjunction with the Open Up the Gates release and a 15-city U.S. tour this summer, (My King) Live Praise & Worship is part of an ongoing initiative to affect America’s youth for Christ by empowering them to impact their communities with the Gospel message.
“Planetshakers pioneered the youth praise and worship movement in Australia but is just now moving to the U.S. market,” comments Barry Landis, president of Word Records. “I’m excited about helping youth leaders across the U.S. experience this powerful ministry.”
Written by Planetshakers’ worship pastors Henry Seeley and Sam Evans, the project was recorded at Paradise Community Church in Adelaide, Australia and includes modern worship anthems “Open Up the Gates,” “Everything to Me,” “You Are Holy,” “Worship the King,” “How I Love You,” and “All I Want Is You,” among others. Signature to Planetshakers’ musical style, (My King) Live Praise & Worship showcases guitar-driven melodies and poignant lyrics that bring the listener into closer communion with God. Also included on the DVD are exclusive preaching clips from Planetshakers founder/pastor Russell Evans, evangelist Chris Hill and Pastor Matthew Barnett of the Los Angeles Dream Center.
“Nothing on this record messes around,” comments Seeley. “The songs are really just expressions of my heart. I hope that others can experience the same type of life-changing encounter with God that we discovered when making this project.”
Planetshakers originated in 1997 as a ministry conference for local youth groups. Today, the annual event continues to draw youth from Australia and beyond, seeing more than 20,000 participants in 2004. Planetshakers has become Australia’s best-selling youth product line and second only to Hillsongs in overall sales. In support of its two recent American releases, Planetshakers will embark on a fall tour sponsored by World Vision. Details are forthcoming.
