Only Him

Have you ever known the passion,
or the praises that erupt
when Jesus pours His Spirit
in a yielded, thirsting cup?
His filling stirs a trembling
that no language can appease,
He overwhelms carnality
with spirit-winded ease.
Transcendent yearnings churn
and a burning spreads within.
Consumed by desperate longing,
my heart wants only Him.
For now this inner tempest
must remain within my chest,
but how I long for heaven’s advent
when this burden’s put to rest.
I will know in full fruition
when upon that day I race
into open arms that bid me
to receive His prized embrace.
This hope of heaven’s beckon
is my strength and joy and song.
I am purified and sanctified
when for my Savior, I so long.
1 John 3:2,3 “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will
be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we
shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this
hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.
