The Week Beginning Sunday – April 29, 2001
Volume 78 – Number 17
Christian simplicity is a subject that is active in every Christian
generation. The fact that Christ lived a simple life has called his followers
from the complexity of the world. Seeking to be like Jesus, we are all
confronted with his modesty and humility. The early church created retreats
and monks. The medieval church sanctified poverty and chastity in efforts to
be like Christ. The Christian simplicity issue is never settled until it is
settled in Christ himself. He has been created by God to be all and in all.
It is to this simplicity he calls us. Our profession is to be, “For me,
Christ is life.”
COMMUNITY MINISTRIES
INTRODUCE PEOPLE TO JESUS
Mac McRae is teaching a class on how to â Introduce People to Jesus. It can
help you to share your faith with others. Come each Sunday and enjoy this
time with us. Learn how to reach out and love someone!
The class meets Sunday, April 29th at 4:30 PM in Main Building room 108
(Agape Classroom).
CHRISTLIKE AMONG FRIENDS
Sometimes we are so zealous to be good representatives of Jesus that we
overlook some basics which are spelled out in Acts 14. Apostle Paul did three
things which we must faithfully remember.
1. Be honest. Donâ’t make Christianity “betterâ€* than it is. God uses our
problems to make us like himself.
2. Paul associated with all men, not just those who shared his beliefs.
3. Always honor the Holy Spirit. God can, and will, do great things through
you! Remember that it is God who works, using us as he pleases.
Acts 14:22 tells us that the believers received strength from each other. Let
us live in such a way that the world is convicted, and believers receive strength from watching our lives in the community.
MIDDLE / SENIOR ADULT DINNER
Thursday, May 3 at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Message by Dr. George
Privett and music by Gary Wallace.
INVEST IN A MINISTRY
It is imperative that God’s people invest in doing the work and will of our
risen Lord! Each person must find his or her own way of allowing God’s grace
to bless friends and neighbors. So……invest in God’s work, and he will
invest himself into your life and your own personal situation. It is
impossible to out-give God. This is a high-yield opportunity Seek first
His kingdom and his righteousness…… You can know more by reading Matthew
6:25-33.
