Publisher Kathryn Darden is pleased to announce that a poem by Wayne Irwin of Montrose, CO has been chosen to be included in the 2006 edition of The Mayberry Poem – A Tribute To Mayberry.
“Wayne’s poem ‘Living the Good Life’ is a nostalgic look back at how life was in Mayberry,” says Darden. “Wayne is a talented writer and I am pleased we were able to include his poem.”
If you could go back in time when things were easy and live a simple life,
how about Mayberry U.S.A. and live next door to Barney Fife?
Raised in the Grand Junction, Colorado area, Wayne graduated from Central High School in 1957 and then attended Western State College, in Gunnison, Colorado, from 1957-1961 where he majored in Business Management.
Irwin was a member of the Colorado National Guard from 1956-1961 and served in the United States Air Force in Mountain Home, Idaho from 1961 -1965. He spent most of his life in the construction/oil refining/exploration and mining business. The past twenty-five years Irwin was involved in the analytical business concerning precious metals extraction from ore, where he ran Irwin Laboratories in Montrose, Colorado.
Prior to this book, Irwin’s poetry has been posted on three different Christian Web sites, ChristianActivities.com, Ujamaa Christian Poetry, and What Ever Is Pure Christian Poetry. Wayne is about to have his first book of poetry published in November called “It’s all About You Lord” from Westview Publishing.
