At the age of 22, Jaci Velasquez is one of the most recognizable entertainers spanning two music genres, including Christian and the now-popular Latin genre.
With six albums to her credit, Jaci has already garnered three RIAA certified Platinum recordings, including her record-breaking debut, Heavenly Place, and her Latin debut, Llegar a Ti. Sixteen of Jaci’s singles have been number one radio hits. Other notables include three GRAMMY award nominations, five Billboard Magazine Award nominations, and a Premio Lo Nuestro Award.
Jaci was nominated for two 2002 American Latino Media Arts awards: outstanding female performer and Spanish-language album for “Mi corazon” (Word/Sony Discos). The awards, honoring outstanding artistic achievement and enhancement of the Latino image in entertainment, will be taped May 18 for June 1 broadcast on ABC. She also will perform on the “Billboard” Latin awards show, airing on national Spanish-language network Telemundo May 12.
Jaci is currently the Latin spokesmodel for John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease Professional Hair Care line of products. During the two-year, nearly two million-dollar ad campaign, she will be featured in ads running in magazines such as Latina and People en Espanol, as well as on Latin-based television commercials.
