Award-winning and
multi-platinum-selling artist Jaci Velásquez recently gained the No. 1 spots
on both English and Latin radio charts with “Adore” and “Como se cura una
herida,” respectively.
Velasquez’ “Adore,” from her critically acclaimed recording, Crystal Clear,
went to No. 1 on Inspirational radio July 23 and became her 15th No. 1
single. “Adore” also held strong as one of the Adult Contemporary chart’s
top-5 songs for an amazing seven consecutive weeks.
In addition to Velasquez’ success in the English-speaking market, she is
connecting with millions with her Spanish-language recordings. “Como se
cura una herida,” from her second Latin-album release, Mi Corazón, became
Velasquez’ 16th No. 1 single this week (August 13) as it reached the No. 1
spot on the Billboard Latin radio chart. Mi Corazón continues to garner
momentum after becoming a top 10 hit on Billboard’s Top 50 Latin HOTSHOT
Albums chart.
Because of the success of her Spanish recordings, invitations have been
streaming in for live concert appearances outside the US. This fall
Velásquez will embark on a significant tour to Central and South America.
She will perform her Latin hits in countries such as Panama, Venezuela,
Brazil and more. After returning from Latin America, Velásquez will
continue touring in the US in support of her first holiday recording,
Christmas.
Releasing in both English and Spanish languages Sept. 18, Christmas was
produced by Chris Harris (Michael W. Smith, CeCe Winans, Anointed, Avalon)
and arranged by Tom Howard (dc talk, Point of Grace, Jennifer Knapp). In
addition to well-known favorites, Christmas also includes three brand new
songs. Velásquez will perform cuts from the new album, along with a full
orchestra, on the Jaci Velásquez Christmas tour, which will begin in late
November.
Jaci can also be seen this year as a spokesmodel in an ad campaign for the
Frizz-Ease brand of hair-care products of John Freida where she will appear
in magazines such as Latina and People en Espanol and on Latin-based
television commercials.
With only six years in the industry and five previous albums to her credit,
she has also garnered two RIAA certified Platinum recordings, including her
record-breaking debut Heavenly Place. Fifteen of Jaci’s singles have been
No. 1 radio hits and Velasquez has received an impressive seven Dove Awards
and three GRAMMY award nominations to date.
