II Chron. 16:9
For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.
If you have just floated into the New Year without any new goals, agendas or resolutions, then let this stir and encourage you! If you diligently seek and obey God you will be blessed! God makes it very clear in His Word over and over again, that if you commit to Him and obey Him fully, you will be blessed! Deuteronomy 28 has got to be one of the best descriptions in the Bible about that principle! Do what God says and you will be blessed, turn from Him and the repercussion will be cursing!
If 2001 was a bad year, then try this out. Commit to give Him your best in 2002. God does not want leftovers … leftover; time, victories, money, attention, commitments and thoughts! He demands our best because He deserves it! He is God and He loves us and wants to bless us!
Read these verses in Haggai and see if you can relate. Sometimes we get so busy with “our house,” and our daily activities, that we forget to put God first or for that matter even involve Him?
Haggai 1:5-11
Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn
wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.” This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored,” says the Lord. “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with his own house. Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops. I called for a drought on the fields and the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the oil and whatever the ground produces, on men and cattle and on the labor of your hands.”
God demands obedience and first place in our lives! We need to always make room, not at the bottom of our priorities but, at the top. It is the key to true success! God has us follow His ways only for our benefit and to honor Him, who is above all things! If we give Him our best, obey and follow Him, we will be blessed!
If you read in II Chronicles 31:2-10, you will discover the proof that when God gets your best, you will have “LEFTOVERS”! More than you gave out, plus some to spare!
PS 112:1-2
Praise the Lord. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in his commands. His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Start the New Year off by committing to give God your very best and diligently following Him and His commands! May God richly bless you in 2002!
