If this Memorial Day,
I forget the price they paid,
then let the privilege of freedom
be forgotten where they’re laid.
Their cost could be no higher.
There is no sacrifice as great
as when a soldier dies for you…
for family… for state.
Remember freedom bears a cost:
a toll of human lives.
Spent to guarantee a land
where liberty will stand.
Revere and hold in high esteem
those brave and mighty soldiers,
who never saw the ticker tape
or heard the “welcome” cheers.
To those who live in freedom
due to those who died for you,
a prayer of thanks and gratitude
is this day… surely due.
