Publicist Jay Swartzendruber joins Gotee
Records this week as the label’s new public relations manager.
Swartzendruber, who served the past four years as the communications
manager for Squint Entertainment, is now set to promote the artists and
vision of Gotee, and it’s sister label, 40 Records.
Responds Gotee president Joey Elwood, “I’ve been watching Jay since his
days at R.E.X. He was always one of those guys you wished could be on
your team, but you kind of always thought, in the back of your head,
that he was not attainable. Well, one of the best just walked through
our door, and I’m thinking that Gotee’s abilities, to serve our artists,
just went to another level.”
Founded seven years ago by Elwood, dc Talk’s Toby McKeehan, and producer
Todd Collins, Gotee Records is a modern music label, which nurtures a
diverse roster of artists from the alternative, pop, hip hop, and rock
genres.
During his 8-year career in music publicity, Swartzendruber has
represented artists ranging from Sixpence None the Richer and L.A.
Symphony to Charlie Peacock and Sarah Masen. While he feigns modesty,
Swartzendruber’s eccentric quotes have been published in periodicals
ranging from The Wall Street Journal and Details, to magazines such as
7ball, CCM, Billboard and Christian Activities.
“As I entered into this new position,” says Swartzendruber, “I already
had the deep respect for who Gotee is as a company, and for who they
represent as artists. If you look around, it’s obvious that this team
is one of the few record labels that has actually improved with time.
I’m not speaking simply of Gotee’s increasing album sales, I’m talking
about vision, heart and effectiveness. I’m honored to be given the
chance to tell their unfolding story–a story of integrity, humility,
worship and artistic excellence.”
Gotee Records new and upcoming releases include the worship debut from
Jason Upton, FAITH (40 Records), which bowed on Tuesday; Relient K’s THE
ANATOMY OF THE TONGUE IN CHEEK—the follow-up to 2000’s best selling rock
debut—streets August 28; Jennifer Knapp’s expected landmark, THE WAY I
AM, which releases November 20; and Out of Eden’s tentatively titled
THIS IS YOUR LIFE, in stores January 22.
