Michael W. Smith, never one to shy away from expressing his political beliefs, has announced he stands behind Christian candidate Ed Bryant for U.S. Senate in his run for the Tennessee seat.
7/28/02 Joy Williams recently performed at the Monday Morning Devotions at CBA International 2002 in Anaheim, Calif., where she had the chance to meet the morning’s speaker, Franklin Graham. Later that week, after signing autographs at the Provident Music Distribution booth, Joy met one of her favorite authors, Beth Moore (“Breaking Free,” “A Heart Like His”) (see attached image). Michael W. Smith recently recorded his second live praise and worship album, Worship Again, on July 19, with 11,000 people at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Ky. The album is set to release on October 22, and will include the Rich Mullins-penned “Step by Step” and “I See You.”
NewSong recently lead the chapel service at the NASCAR Pepsi 400 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. Over 250 drivers and crewmembers were in attendance at the chapel service held prior to the race on Saturday morning.

7/16/02 Christian artists–including Michael W. Smith, Steve Taylor, Charlie Peacock, Third Day, dc Talk, and more–are supporting U2 frontman Bono’s nonprofit organization DATA, aimed at raising Americans’ awareness of Africa’s three biggest problems: AIDS, debt, and trade practices.
Superchic[k]’s “One Girl Revolution” was the opening theme of “Cadet Kelly” on ABC’s “The Wonderful World of Disney” July 14. The band’s songs have been in more than 30 films and TV programs.
7/14/02 Reunion Records artist, Kathy Troccoli is currently in the studio working on her 13th project slated to release September 24, 2002. Under the direction of Nathan DiGesare (Donna Summer, Steve Winwood, Boyz II Men) and Chris Harris (Jaci Velasquez, Anointed), The Heart of Me touches on issues of hope, finding one’s strength in the Lord and trusting that God is in control of our lives.
7/12/02 Reunion Records newest signing, Southern California rock band Daily Planet, is gearing up for the August 20 release of its debut album, Hero.
To kick off the album, Daily Planet is preparing a two-week promotional tour to hit key cities such as Chicago, Columbus, Ohio, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Orlando, Fla.,
Sparrow Records teen pop group Jump5 recently re-recorded and shot a
video for the Oscar ® winning song “Beauty & The Beast” to be featured on
the up-coming DVD and video release of Disney’s Beauty & The Beast:
Special Edition from Buena Vista Home Entertainment. This special
DVD/video will feature never-before-released footage as well as the
film’s first-ever digital presentation with enhanced picture and sound
for home viewing.
38th Parallel’s “Horizon” quickly climbed to No. 5 this week after an explosive entrance at 17 on R&R’s
Christian Rock Top 30 chart just three weeks ago. As one of the fastest moving singles on the Rock chart this year, the new Squint
Entertainment rock band’s first single from its July 2 debut, Turn the Tides, continues to garner numerous weekly adds and positive reaction
since its release to radio May 31.
Sparrow /sixstepsrecords is eagerly preparing to launch the sophomore recording from highly
successful artist/worshiper Chris Tomlin. Entitled Not To Us, and produced by Matt Bronleewe (Jars of Clay, dcTalk, Natalie Imbruglia), the
project will release September 10.

GRAMMY Award winning and multi-platinum selling artist and composer, Michael W.
Smith and legendary producer Phil Ramone (Bono, Frank Sinatra, Elton John, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Barbra Streisand,
Luciano Pavarotti) are teaming up to record a song for the album Songs For Life. Executive produced by Ramone,
proceeds from the album, to be released on Interscope Records in October, will go towards AIDS relief efforts in Africa.
