As part of a strategic focus to strengthen its artist development
efforts, Alabaster Arts, Inc. is absorbing its wholly-owned artist booking company, TKO Agency, effective
immediately.
Since Alabaster’s purchase of TKO (formerly Davdon Artist Agency), its success has grown to serve artists
like Relient K, L.A. Symphony, John Reuben, Ace Troubleshooter, Cadet and many more. Alabaster will continue to
handle booking for Relient K, Paul Colman Trio, L.A. Symphony, Inside the Outside and Ace Troubleshooter.
“TKO Agency has been a life-saver during Alabaster’s transition from a small, one-artist partnership to a
multi-faceted artist development corporation,” said Alabaster Arts President Steven Thomas. “The investment
made when purchasing Davdon Agency a year ago has paid for itself many times over. TKO has served its
purpose, and we are grateful to the artists who have allowed us to serve them. It’s now time for us to take the
risk needed to focus strictly on artist development.”
Over the past year, Alabaster’s core artist management roster has grown to include The O.C. Supertones,
Relient K, Paul Colman Trio, The Elms and Katy Hudson. The first half of 2002 has been a huge success for each
of Alabaster’s artists, and the remainder of the year is set to follow suit.
Following the release of 2001’s Loud & Clear and the subsequent “Loud & Clear Dance Party USA” tour, the
Supertones followed with a new live project, OC Supertones Live Vol. 1, earlier this year. The band will gross
over $1 million in 2002 – its best financial year ever – and is already reinventing its studio sound while working
with producers Charlie Peacock and Brent Bourgeois on a brand new album set to release in October of this
year.
With sales in excess of 100,000 units of their current album, The Anatomy of the Tongue In Cheek, Relient K
will join forces with Big Idea Productions to help launch the upcoming release of Jonah: A Veggie Tales Movie.
The band will headline a 40+ city tour this fall, and combined marketing efforts between Big Idea, Gotee
Records, tour promoters and Alabaster Arts will net over 100 million marketing impressions during the summer
and fall.
The Paul Colman Trio recently shipped 80,000 units of its debut album, New Map of the World, and the band’s
first radio single, “Turn,” climbed straight to the No. 1 slot on R&R’s CHR chart. The Paul Colman Trio will
perform for more than 1 million people during the group’s first year in America, opening for both the spring and
fall legs of Third Day’s successful “Come Together” tour.
Following last year’s release of the their critically-acclaimed debut project, The Big Surprise, The Elms have
been featured for eight straight weeks on MTV’s “120 Minutes” and are now in the studio recording a brand new
rock album with key members of Tom Petty’s production team. The group received two Dove nominations this
year and also recently signed a booking agreement with The William Morris Agency.
As a new artist in 2001, Katy Hudson’s self-titled debut solo project met with critical acclaim within the
Christian music industry. Alabaster is currently in negotiations with producer Glen Ballard (Alanis Morissette,
Dave Matthews Band) and Island/Def Jam Music Group for a multi-album mainstream recording contract with
the seventeen-year-old Hudson.
