40th Anniversary Koinonia Family Reunion Planned

A planning meeting took place today in Cool Springs to organize the upcoming Koinonia Family Reunion.
The 40th anniversary of Koinonia Bookstore & Coffeehouse will be celebrated at the Koinonia Family Reunion on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Woodmont Hills Church at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $7.50 per person or $15 per immediate family.
Christian artists and bands scheduled to perform at the historic event include: Dogwood, Fireworks, Homecoming, Tricia Walker, Billy Sprague, The Glory Bugles and others to be announced. Most of the performers were also a part of the 2007 Koinonia Family Reunion.
“I don’t think today’s lovers of Christian music fully appreciate the impact Koinonia Bookstore & Coffeehouse actually had in the music they listen to today,” comments radio personality Brian Mason. “In 1972, we were coming out of the ‘Jesus Music’ era and these true pioneers (featured in the Koinonia Family Reunion concert) not only fed us with strong Jesus-centered music, but indirectly set the standard for the rest of the CCM industry.”
Koinonia Bookstore was the birthplace of much of Christian music in the 1970s and 1980s and the place where artists like Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith got their start. The Koinonia Family Reunion will be a time to remember the genesis of contemporary Christian music and to enjoy the artists who made it popular 40 years ago.
“If it were not for visits to Koinonia in the 70’s I would not have moved to Nashville after college,” says Nashville attorney Greg Seneff. “Koinonia and the community of believers I met there were so welcoming that I felt at home the first time I visited. I am still close friends with many of those people over 30 years later. In a very real sense, Koinonia is still blessing me every day.”
The Koinonia Family Reunion is presented by TORM: Times of Refreshing Ministry and takes place at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 2. Woodmont Hills Church is located at 3710 Franklin Road Nashville, TN 37204. Tickets are required. Seats are first-come, first-served and are not reserved.
