World Vision announced today they are reversing a two-day-old policy change that would have allowed it to hire employees who profess to be Christians in same-sex marriages.
As reported in AFTAH Condemns World Vision Capitulation on Homosexual ‘Marriage’, many Christian groups and organizations, Christian media and World Vision supporters voiced their opinion that the child aid organization should remain Biblically based, true to scripture and true to World Vision’s original policy requiring celibacy outside of marriage .
Today World Vision sent a letter to supporters saying the board had made a mistake and was returning to its previous policy”and faithfulness within the Bible covenant of marriage between a man and a woman.”
“We have listened to you and want to say thank you and to humbly ask for your forgiveness,” the agency said in the letter, signed by World Vision president Richard Stearns and board chairman Jim Bere.
