~ Word for the Day— Psalm 119:105 NLT ~
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet
and a light for my path.
One of the songs that got me into Christian music was performed by a young Amy Grant, written by Grant and Michael W. Smith—“Thy Word.” The simple song quoted Psalm 119:105 (KJV): “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” It was and remains a lovely song and it still helps me remember to this day that God’s Word, made flesh in the form of Jesus, can illuminate the darkest path.
I will not forget
Your love for me and yet
My heart forever is wandering
Jesus be my guide
And hold me to your side
I will love you to the end
Nothing will I fear as long as you are near
Please be near me to the end
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path…“Thy Word” — Amy Grant
I have needed that reminder throughout my life, during the loss of loved ones and during hard times that have rocked my world. In the darkness when I feel lost there is always a light that draws me back to my path, and that light is the Word of God.
However deep in the woods you find yourself, however dark the path, let the Word of God illuminate your steps.
