Word for the Day: Mother’s Day

~ The Word for the day today is for Mother’s Day from Proverbs ~

“Let your father and mother be glad; let her who bore you rejoice.”

Proverbs 23:22, New King James Version

Since today is Mother’s Day, the word for the day is the verse found in Proverbs 23:22, This scripture admonishes children to do right by their parents to make them glad and to be the kind of children that waould make a mother’s heart glad.

The English Standard Version puts it another way: “Listen to your father who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.”

Whichever way this verse is translated, give your mother the respect she deserves for giving you birth and raising you, or adopting you and caring for you. She may not be perfect. She may not understand your generation. Still, she is your mother and has wisdom to share, if for no other reason than she simply has lived longer than you.
