Women of the Bible on Newsstands

~ Women of the Bible issue of Life magazine now out on Newsstands ~

Life’s Women of the Bible is out on newsstands now. This publication is a reprint of an older edition and sells for $14.99.

Full of colorful paintings depicting women in the Bible, the issue is broken into four parts: “the introduction “Lessons from Their Lives;” Part 1 which focuses on women from Old Testament times; Part 2 which looks at women from ancient Israel; and Part 3 which delves into the lives of women from New Testament times.

Not all the women featured in the publication are actually mentioned in the Bible. Lilith is from Jewish folklore and Thecla from an ancient apocryphal manuscript.

The Old Testament Women

The women featured from the Old Testament era include: Eve, Lilith, Sarah and Hagar; Rebekah, Rachel and Leah, Zipporah, and Miriam.

Women of Ancient Israel

The women included in this section are: Deborah, Delilah, Ruth, Bathsheba, Jezebel, Judith and Esther.

New Testament Women

Women chosen for inclusion from New Testament times are: Mary, Elizabeth, the Samaritan woman, Mary and Martha of Bethany, Salome, Mary Magdalene, Priscilla and Thecla.

The 25 stories told provide an interesting look at women depicted in and associated with the Bible. However, it is always important to “fact check” for yourself by reading directly from the Bible.
