Toward the end of 1995 a new organization for women who work in Christian music began its first phase of growth when founder Kathryn E. Darden, publisher of Christian Activities Publications, began sharing her dream with other
women in the music industry. A steering committee began meeting in March of 1996 to study the feasibility of such a group leading to the first WICM meeting on April 9, 1996.
The first year’s meetings were oriented towards research and fellowship with all guests filling out survey forms
designed to provide input for the growing group.
Guest speakers from different segments of the music
industry were added to the roster in June of 1996. Past speakers include: Kim Hill, Lisa Bevill, Rene Garcia (Bliss Bliss), Brynn Gersmehl (Rachael Rachael), Selena Bloom, and Jackie Carlisle (wife of Bob Carlisle) as well as managers, publishers, promoters and other women in the music industry.
During the past four years the group has continued to conduct monthly lunch meetings, sponsored annual ministry outreaches, and hosted several social outings.
In October of 2000, the group decided to go on hiatus during the holidays and regroup in January 2001.
To create an organization for women involved in the Christian music industry.
Provide a forum for networking.
Foster support for one another.
Pray for each other and the Christian music industry.
Provide education as it relates to the industry.
Provide opportunities for leadership. ACTIVITIES:
We have several social events throughout the year: cookouts, going to see members perform, etc. We also have a Christmas charity project each year:
Christmas at Cottage Cove benefitted the children who are tutored at Cottage Cove in the Vine Hill area Shelter of Hope benefitted a shelter for abused women.
Christmas at Agape was a toy drive to benefit the adoption and foster care programs of Agape
Meetings in Nashville take place the first Wednesday of every month at noon at La Paz Cantina in Green Hills. If the first Wednesday is a major holiday, meetings are moved to the second Wednesday. At each meeting there is plenty of time for fellowship and networking, with a guest speaker speaking for the last twenty minutes. At 1:00 the group is dismissed, but those who want to can stay and fellowship some more. Brief announcements of interest to women in the Christian music industry are invited at the end of each meeting. Your first meeting is free as our guest, but after that you may either place membership or pay $4 per meeting to help support the club and our projects.

We plan to contact various merchants and businesses to see if they will donate or discount products and
services. If you know someone who might be interested in donating a product or service, please let us know!
