This past weekend, the Values Voters Summit took place in Washington, D.C., an annual gathering of social conservatives hosted by the FRC Action.
This year’s Summit was especially insightful, as seven of the presidential hopefuls showed up to discuss their views on the issues that matter to the family—life, marriage and religious liberties. The following brief quotes illustrate where four of these candidates stand:
Gov. Rick Perry – “As a society, we must stand for the principle that every life is worth living, regardless of the circumstance. As Americans, we must affirm the value of life.”
Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum – “…the single thing you can do is to nurture and support the institution of marriage…and that means standing up and defending marriage as between one man and one woman.”
Former Gov. Mitt Romney – “…it’s so important to preserve traditional marriage, the joining together of one man and one woman.” Romney added “It is long past time for the Supreme Court to return the issue of abortion back to the states by overturning Roe v. Wade.”
Herman Cain – “I believe in life from conception, period. No exceptions. I believe marriage is between one man and one woman, and I would not have asked the Department of Justice to not enforce it.”
Publisher’s Note: It is vital that Christians show up at the polls on Election Day and vote for the candidates that best match our values. While it is doubtful any candidate will meet every one of your criteria on finances, education, military, etc. it is crucial to vote your conscience and chose a candidate whose political agenda is closest to Biblical values.
