What’s Up: On Screen

The Associated Press reports that trivia whiz Ken Jennings, who won more than $2.5 million during his 74 game winning streak on “Jeopardy” but lost in the recent “Jeopardy Tournament of Champions”, has signed a deal with Comedy Central to be the central figure in a game show currently being developed by Michael Davis, the producer behind “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.” In addition to the show, Jennings can be seen in ads for Cingular wireless and the board game, “Can You Beat Ken?” (University Games). Jennings is also reportedly working on a book due out next year.
Howard Morris, best known for playing Mayberry’s poetry-spouting, rock-throwing hillbilly Ernest T. Bass on the “Andy Griffith Show,” died on May 21st at the age of 85. The feisty but lovable Ernest T. Bass only appeared in five episodes of the Andy Griffith Show, but made a lasting impression on viewers. In addition to his role on “The Andy Griffith Show,” Morris provided the voices for several animated television show characters and directed several TV shows and films.
