Author Barbara Johnson will receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for her exceptional contributions to the Christian bookselling industry over the last few decades. The Award will be presented at the 28th Annual ECPA Gold Medallion and CBA Retailer Impact Award Celebration being held at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver on July 11, 2005. Johnson is the survivor of multiple devastating experiences, including a terrible accident that left her husband blind and crippled for many months; a personal diagnosis of adult-onset diabetes; the death of two sons, one in Vietnam and the other killed by a drunk driver; and the homosexuality of a third son who disappeared into the gay lifestyle for the better part of eleven years. She met the struggles with humor and joy, developing a ministry to the aching and overwhelmed that has continued until the present day despite some new challenges which include a malignant brain tumor and the death of her husband, Bill.
