As praise and worship exhibits unprecedented global growth,
Vineyard Music is steadily multiplying its long-committed efforts to
document and model contemporary worship within the movement and equip
participants worldwide with applicable musical resources. A non-profit
record label prolifically focused on God-centered songwriting and
international church planting, Vineyard Music will release four more new
worship albums in 2001.
“Our business is recording the best worship songs God gives us and then
lovingly and sensitively offering them to the Church at large,” says Jeremy
Cook, president of Vineyard Music. “Our heart is to impact every culture so
far as God gives us grace to do so.”
The cultural scope of Vineyard Music continues to expand as the company now
operates in fellowship with Vineyard churches in more than 70 nations and
has offices across six continents in countries that include the United
States, Canada, United Kingdom, South Africa, India, New Zealand,
Switzerland and Brazil in addition to their newly formed Hispanic division.
Likewise, Vineyard Music’s upcoming product schedule typifies its
all-nations, all-generations approach.
Two highly anticipated projects are set to release September 25. Prayer –
Expressions of Worship unites a diverse team of producers and worship
leaders for an intimate collection of meditative songs that capture the
feeling of being in God’s presence. Great Big God, a children’s album from
the UK, features a lively chorus of 120 kids, ages 7-15, in a fast-paced
praise celebration that explores the sounds of rock, blues, folk, rap,
ballads and Caribbean carnival. October 23 sees Vineyard release The
Mystery, a Canadian-produced youth recording and Breathe, a modern worship
compilation for young adults. All releases are sold on CD/cassette and
accompaniment songbooks are available for select titles.
Marketing plans for all upcoming Vineyard releases include direct mail
campaigns and Internet promotions via vineyardmusic.com, worshiptogether.com
and sparrowrecords.com. The respect of the Vineyard brand name will also
continue its impact among retailers, consumers and the church at large.
“The wave of modern worship coming from the UK is a direct result of the
development of the church planting activities of the UK,” says Chris
Whitelock, international development coordinator. “The songs come from
within the churches and thus, are inextricably tied to what the Holy Spirit
is saying and doing in the church.”
“In the years to come, the Vineyard will probably be remembered for our
songs rather than our sermons,” agrees Cook.
Founded in Yorba Linda, CA in 1977 by the late John Wimber, Vineyard Music
is an independent worship ministry label marketed in the U.S. by Sparrow
Label Group and distributed by Chordant Distribution Group. Best-selling
Vineyard releases include Hungry, Come Now Is The Time To Worship, Change My
Heart Oh God and Surrender. Other widely known songs from Vineyard are
“Hungry,” “Come Now Is The Time To Worship” and “I Want To Know You” (“In
The Secret” – made popular by SONICFLOOd). In 2002, Vineyard will release
Anthology, a quintessential gathering of worship songs from the company’s
first 25 years.
