The Lipscomb University drama department presents The
Heiress April 19-22 at 7:30 p.m. in Arena Theatre, located at 3901 Granny
White Pike, Nashville. Admission is free. Performances are open to the public, and everyone is invited to attend. No tickets or reservations required, but arrive early
because seating is limited.
The Heiress was first produced on Broadway in 1947. Set in the most
affluent section of 1850 New York City, The Heiress is the story of Dr.
Austin Sloper and his plain daughter, Catherine. When a handsome young man
begins courting Catherine, Dr. Sloper becomes suspicious of the young man’s
attentions towards his daughter. While Dr. Sloper thinks the young bachelor
to be a fortune hunter, Catherine believes Morris’s affections are genuine.
