True Vibe Pure Pop Tour

Essential Records’ True Vibe readies to embark on a 25-city “Pure Pop” tour alongside fellow pop artists Plus One, Phat Chance and Souljahz. The tour, kicking off in Oklahoma Oct. 13, will visit major American cities including Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Chicago, while also incorporating several Canadian concert dates. The tour comes on the heels of a successful record launch for True Vibe, whose August 20 sophomore release, See The Light, continues to win favor among critics and at radio.
“Pure Pop” marks only the second Christian tour for True Vibe. While the vocal group joined Reunion Records artist NewSong this summer for its 15-city Summer JAM tour, True Vibe spent a majority of its debut year opening for mainstream acts Destiny’s Child and Aaron Carter among others. True Vibe is enthusiastic about another opportunity to perform for Christian music fans nationwide. Jonathan Lippmann, True Vibe’s founding member, comments, “We were blessed with many high-profile, mainstream opportunities early on in our career as a group. The guys and I appreciate all that we have been able to accomplish in the last year and a half but are looking forward to focusing on our core Christian audience with ‘Pure Pop’ and See The Light.”
True Vibe’s participation in the “Pure Pop” tour continues what has been an ambitious fall supporting the critically acclaimed See The Light. Only six weeks since its debut, See The Light has amassed rave reviews, as indicated by Campus Life magazine: “Featuring a variety of styles woven around those smooth harmonies, See The Light is a worship-filled offering pointing to the Father.” The record’s title track and first radio single is flourishing as well, bulleted at No. 6 on R&R’s Christian Adult Contemporary Top 30 chart. True Vibe has supported the album with select appearances, including extensive street week promotions in Chicago and Dallas. The group was also tapped to launch “Music At The Mills,” a year-long concert series sponsored by Nashville’s Opry Mills, Bible Factory Outlet and local Salem Communications’ affiliate The One (93.7/94.1 FM).

During its debut year, True Vibe sold more than 180,000 units and performed before an estimated audience of two million. Its self-titled recording was the year’s highest-selling debut when it released in May 2001 and sparked the multi-format No. 1 hit song “Now and Forever.” True Vibe later added to its radio success the No.1 single “Sweet Jesus” and two Top 5 songs “Jump, Jump, Jump” and “You Are The Way.” In addition to appearances on the Radio Disney Live! World Tour 2001 and The CoverGirl Model Experience Contest, True Vibe performed the national anthem for one occasion of ABC’s Monday Night Football and other NFL, NBA and major league baseball events. Furthermore, True Vibe was featured on the soundtrack album for the 2001 Paramount Pictures/Nickelodeon Movies animated feature film, “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” and the title cut to the 2001 Miramax film “On the Line” with *NSYNC’s Lance Bass and Joey Fatone.
The “Pure Pop” tour is one element of a larger campaign designed to call attention to the positive aspects of pop culture. “Pure Pop” will host a talent competition in each tour market prior to the concert, with a local winner opening the show in his/her hometown. A Pure Pop record, featuring talents including True Vibe, Stacie Orrico, Out of Eden, Plus One, Rachel Lampa and Jaci Velasquez, also released from Squint Entertainment Sept. 3.
