Swedish metal rockers Blindside is poised to set AGMF 07 ablaze with cacophonous fun in Toowoomba next Easter (6-8 April 2007). The band that has opened for P.O.D., Hoobastank, and Linkin Park sings songs about sexual purity, compassion, the need of the Savior, plus warnings to avoid false teaching.
Formed in 1994 in Stockholm, Sweden, the Christian foursome is an atypical group considering it comes from the land of girl-fronted pop, the same country that gave us ABBA, Ace of Base, and The Cardigans.
The quintessential metal rock band scored a deal with indie, Seattle-based label Tooth & Nail, which released its self-titled debut in 1997. The group’s major-label glory days began with the revolutionary Silence (2002), the more progressive About a Burning Fire (2004), and the blistering The Great Depression (2005).
Blindside’s AGMF 07 appearance marks its first Australian visit. The festival that has earned the reputation as the country’s number one event for youth, kids and families will see Blindside headline alongside US hard rockers Day Of Fire, Chicago’s alternative pop group Superchic[k], US soulful pop singer Jimmy Needham, Australian gospel rock band Planetshakers Band, plus jazz virtuoso James Morrison.
