Thomas Murray at Christ Church Cathedral

Having already won acclaim for his numerous recordings, Yale University organist Thomas Murray will be the featured performer at a special concert on Sunday, October 21, 4:00PM, at Christ Church Cathedral at 900 Broadway in Nashville. As part of the Sacred Space for the City Art Series, Murray’s program will focus on the bold and exciting orchestral works for which he is best known. A ‘meet-and-greet’ reception will follow the concert. Tickets for this event are $10 and $5 for students. If you would like more information, please call (615) 255-7729 or visit the church website at
Named International Artist of the Year by the American Guild of Organists in 1986 and an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Organists in England in 2003, Murray has performed internationally in concerts and at festivals in England, Finland, Japan, South America and Australia. As a soloist, he has played with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, as well as the Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Houston and New Haven Symphony Orchestras.
Murray’s recordings on JAV, Gothic, Arkay, Priory, and other labels, including his newly-released Elgar CD, have earned him such praise as that of The Diapason (Chicago) which said that a recent Murray performance was “a perfect match of organ, program and artist.”
About Christ Church Cathedral: Built in 1894 at 990 Broadway, Christ Church Cathedral is the spiritual home for over 2,000 parishioners. It also serves as the Cathedral for the Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee, and through its Sacred Space for the City ministry, it has become a Cathedral for the entire city of Nashville. With its gabled and hipped roof and a mix of Gothic arched and circular shaped stained glass windows, Christ Church Cathedral stands as a very beautifully complex structure.
