They were going to the baby Jesus. Looking down at the smiling faces, with joy dancing in their eyes, I couldn’t help but wonder if this is the way the Three Wise Men looked while following the star. The anticipation is too much at times and the joy is uncontrollable.
The children are silenced to begin the journey, their bodies tense with excitement as we move down the hallway. The old church is alive with Sunday Morning Activities, but we are able to find the occasional stairwell to peak into to see if there is a glimpse of the Star. The noise level begins to elevate as the children feel that we are coming to the end of our journey. We pass through the doorway into the darkened room to find the Star perched on a shelf and their under the star is the baby Jesus. The excitement escalates, but the children are silent as the realization overcomes them that we have accomplished our task. We have followed the Star and found baby Jesus!
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11)
