The Passion Of The Christ: Songs – Various Artists

The Passion Of The Christ: Songs – Various Artists, (Lost Keyword)
This powerful collection of Passion-inspired songs contains an assorted mix of musical styles and artists, all of whom were inspired to reflect on how the film affected them. Included in this musically diverse mix you’ll find hard rockers P.O.D., CCM heavyweights Third Day, Steven Curtis Chapman and MercyMe, gospel great Kirk Franklin, country sensation Sara Evans, Lauryn Hill and former Creed vocalist Scott Stapp.
The disc starts of with the powerful “I See Love”, which contains the vocal talents of Mac Powell (Third Day), Steven Curtis Chapman and Bart Millard (MercyMe). Providing the musical backdrop for the song, in typical Southern-flavored rock style, are the remaining members of Third Day. Because of the track’s unique mix of vocals (rock, contemporary and AC), the song stands out as a disc highlight. The disc’s second track is the first solo offering from Scott Stapp. On “Relearn Love” the former Creed frontman shines with this lyrical pursuit, a song that slowly builds into an all-out rocker. “Truly Amazing” from P.O.D. offers up some melodic rock, along with the country sounds of Brad Paisley and Sara Evans on “New Again”. Following tracks by Big Dismal (“Rainy Day”) and Lauryn Hill (“The Passion”), comes “How Many Lashes”, from Kirk Franklin and Yolanda Adams, which features some very gripping lyrical content and is a highlight of the CD. The disc finishes with music from MxPx, Charlotte Church, BeBe Winans (with Angie Stone), Dan Lavery and Big Dismal again, with their closing piano-laced ballad “Reason I Live”. Personally, this one is my favorite of their two tracks.
With its eclectic mix of musical styles and artists, The Passion Of The Christ: Songs comes across as a solid effort that’s definitely worth a listen. No matter what your musical tastes are, I’m sure you will find this compilation both pleasing and inspiring.
