The Dangerous Wonder of Faith

“Every day I want to be in dangerous proximity to Jesus. I long for a life that explodes with meaning and is filled with adventure, wonder, risk, and danger. I long for a faith that is gloriously treacherous.” — Mike
Yaconelli, Dangerous Wonder
There is something infectious about what Mike has said here. We Christians
are often worshiping at the altar of spiritual safety and security. We
bristle at the idea of risky spirituality because it sounds naive; besides,
it might result in legalism or radicalism. And so we fall asleep in the
“light” of our own preferred truth.
It seems to me that what we need is not preferred truth but revealed truth.
One leads us to confirming our prejudices, the other to transforming our
hearts. Revealed truth leads us to a life exploding with meaning. So let’s
not loose sight of our need to hear from God through diligent study of His
word, through prayer, and through meaningful fellowship with other
believers.

them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped.” Ex. 4:31
