The Christmas Hope Hits New York Times Book Review’s Hardcover Fiction

Best-selling author Donna VanLiere has once again garnered a place on the coveted The New York Times Best Seller List with The Christmas Hope, which released November 1, 2005 through Integrity Publishers. The book debuted last week at #23 on The New York Times Book Review’s Hardcover Fiction best seller list and has held that position for a second week. The heartfelt novel is the third book in the widely popular Christmas Hope series which includes The Christmas Shoes and The Christmas Blessing.
The first two books of the Christmas Hope series were huge hits, and each has been crafted into a made-for-television movie. The film based on The Christmas Shoes, a 2002 Retailer’s Choice Award fiction winner and The New York Times bestseller, aired on CBS and became the highest rated TV movie of 2003. The movie adaptation of The Christmas Blessing, starring Hollywood stars Rob Lowe (“The West Wing”), Angus T. Jones (“The Rookie” and “Two and a Half Men”), Neil Patrick Harris (“Doogie Howser, M.D.” and “How I Met Your Mother”), Rebecca Gayheart (“Dead Like Me,” “Beverly Hills, 90210”) along with country music star Blake Shelton, will air December 18 on CBS. Dove Award-winning, Grammy nominated group NewSong also makes an appearance and performs in the movie. A deal has already been signed for CBS to make a movie of The Christmas Hope for 2006.
One of the central themes of The Christmas Hope is adoption, a subject with which author Donna VanLiere is well acquainted. VanLiere and her husband Troy, after years of trying unsuccessfully to have a child, now have two adopted daughters from China – Gracie and Kate. “Troy and I constantly tell people that adoption has been the greatest joy in our lives, although it started out as our greatest pain. It isn’t the dream I had hoped for as a child, it’s better,” comments VanLiere. “It is my deepest wish that the book will shed light on the joys and blessings of adoption and will cause more people to reach out and help a child.”
Donna VanLiere is an actress, speaker and best-selling author of several books, including They Walked With Him, the 2002 Silver Angel Award-winning Sheltering Trees: The Power, Promise and Refuge of Friendship and High Calling: The Courageous Life and Faith of Space Shuttle Columbia Commander Rick Husband. VanLiere has also written several full-production plays and hundreds of sketches for churches and events. She has served as emcee and dramatist for Women of Faith Marriage Conferences featuring Dr. Gary Smalley, Dr. Larry Crabb and Dr. Kevin Leman, and has performed with the Arise Easter Tour – highlighting some of today’s top Christian music artists. VanLiere and her family live in Franklin, Tenn.
