The made-for-television movie based on the second book, The Christmas Blessing, aired Sunday on CBS as the Movie of the Week. Early reports indicate that the movie received a 14-percent share, a feat not often attained, making it the second most watched TV movie of the year. Despite a 25-minute delay due to the President’s address to the nation, “The Christmas Blessing” beat everything in its time slot including the hit popular TV drama “Desperate Housewives.” A deal has already been signed for CBS to make The Christmas Hope into a movie. In 2002, “The Christmas Shoes” was the highest rated television movie.
All three books in the heartwarming The Christmas Hope series from The New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Donna VanLiere are enjoying widespread success. The Christmas Hope, which released November 1, 2005 through Integrity Publishers, debuted at number 23 on The New York Times Book Review’s Hardcover Fiction list. The book moved up to number 13 on this week’s listing which reflects sales for the week ending December 10 at almost 4,000 bookstores plus wholesalers serving 50,000 other retailers. The first book of the series – The Christmas Shoes, which originally released in 2001, has re-entered the best seller list at number 30.
